Rosemarie Slaby (nee Kalus), 100, of Lombard and formerly of Riverside, died Nov. 10, 2014.

Ms. Slaby was raised in Union Pier, Michigan, with her sister, Mildred. She attended a one-room school house through elementary school and then attended Three Oaks High School in Michigan before her family moved to the Chicago area. She finished her high school years at Morton High School in Cicero and later began a beauty culture business, which she ran for many years.

In 1934, she married Irwin C. Slaby D.D.S., who practiced dentistry in Cicero until his death in 1986. In 1937, the couple moved to Riverside, where they had three children.

Ms. Slaby was a member of the Friends of the Riverside Public Library, the Riverside Women’s Club and the Organ-holics Electronic Organ Club. She was also a member of the Riverside Presbyterian Church for 50 years.

She left the village in 1987 to retire to Beacon Hill in Lombard.

Ms. Slaby was the mother of Edward (Roberta) Slaby D.D.S., Ronald Slaby Ph.D. (Diana Arezzo Ph.D.) and the late Robert Slaby; the grandmother of four and the great-grandmother of four.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Beacon Hill.
