Charles E. “Chuck” Zidek, 84, of Riverside, died Dec. 14, 2014.

Mr. Zidek was born Aug. 10, 1930 and was raised in Riverside. He graduated from Marmion Military Academy in 1948 and from Purdue University in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He and his wife, Barbara, raised seven children in Riverside, where Mr. Zidek served on numerous boards and committees for the public school district and at St. Mary Parish.

Mr. Zidek spent his entire professional career with Midland Metal Products, the family business, which is located in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago. He was CEO and owner of Midland Metal Products from the mid-1980s to the late 1990s.

He was the husband of Barbara Ann Zidek (nee Young) for 58 years; the father of Mary (Kurt) Heinrich, Michael (Susan) Zidek, Thomas Zidek, Stephen (Susan) Zidek, Timothy (Mary) Zidek, Charles (Kathleen) Zidek and the late Joan (Jeffrey) Ward; the grandfather of 14; and the brother of the late Louise A. Pavlin.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 20 at St. Mary Church in Riverside, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
