The Riverside Police Department completed their winter compliance checks at local retailers to ensure that they are complying with State laws and local ordinances regarding the sale of tobacco products to minors.
The 7-11, Marathon and Amstar gas stations were all visited by Officer Brian Greenenwald and a cooperating minor. Greenenwald reported that none of the retailers sold tobacco products to minors.
“This grant-funded program is in place to make sure that our retailers continue doing the right thing and preventing underage tobacco use. We have had a steady 100-percent compliance rate over the last several years, and I look forward to that trend continuing,” said Greenenwald.
The Riverside Police Department will complete another compliance check in the spring as a part of the “Kids Can’t Buy ‘Em Here” Tobacco Enforcement Program.
