Riverside Arts Center will kick off a new exhibition, “Material Normal Monumental,” with an opening reception on Sunday, April 12 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the center’s Freeark Gallery, 32 E. Quincy St. in Riverside.
The show features of the work of Latino artists, including Alberto Aguilar, Alejandro Figueredo Diaz–Perera, Maria Gaspar, Jorge Lucero, Victoria Martinez, Maddie Reyna, Edra Soto and Rafael E. Vera and his curated by Alberto Aguilar, in association with his Crossing Boundaries Residency through Arts + Public Life and Center for the Study of Race, Politics and Culture.
The art work uses everyday materials to present varied perspectives around the monument and monumentality.
The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. The show runs through May 9. The Riverside Arts Center is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m.
