Riverside Police Chief Thomas Weitzel has been asked by the Police Officers Memorial Foundation of Cook County President Edward T. Weitzel stated, “It is my honor to be asked to deliver a keynote speech to honor police officers killed in the line of duty. The Police Officers Memorial Foundation of Cook County has established an important tradition of honoring our deceased officers during national police week. It is my privilege every day to work alongside dedicated law enforcement officers throughout Cook County and the State of Illinois. It is fitting each year to take time to pause and reflect on the work of our police officers and to remember those whom we have lost.”
The event will take place rain or shine and all area police departments and residents of Cook County area are encouraged to attend this ceremony.
