Gerald A. “Jerry” Giovanoni, 86, a longtime resident of Brookfield, died July 9, 2015.
Mr. Giovanoni was born June 21, 1929 and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After that he embarked on a career as a police officer in Brookfield retiring in at the rank of lieutenant.
He was also an avid private pilot and a former employee of Midway Airport, and he worked as a truck driver for Kenosha and Mid-American. Mr. Giovanoni also served as the director of the Brookfield Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA), which the village disbanded in 2006, and served on the Brookfield Public Safety Commission.
Mr. Giovanoni was the son of the late August J. Giovanoni and Kathryn V. Giovanoni (nee Adler); the companion of Elaine Stukel; the father-in-law of Janet (Randy) Brown; and the grandfather of Carissa (Eric Morris) Stevens. He is also survived by his very special cousins.
A funeral Mass was celebrated July 14 at St. Barbara Church in Brookfield, followed by interment at Chapel Hills Garden West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.
