Kenneth Berg, 75, of Lyons, died on July 24, 2015. Born in Evanston, he lived the majority of his childhood in his beloved Rice Lake, Wisconsin, before graduating from Lake View High School in Chicago. He proudly served his country in the Air Force from 1958-1962, earned his Bachelor of Science degree in management from the University of Illinois Chicago, and a master’s degree in business administration at Northwestern University. He had previously worked as an assistant vice president for the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago for 22 years, and after retiring, he worked as a substitute grade school teacher in Berwyn. In addition, he faithfully served his church on many different committees for over 35 years.
Kenneth Berg is survived by his wife, Carol (nee La Paglia) Berg; his children, Karen (Andreas) Berg-Raftakis, James Berg, and Elizabeth (Mark) Berg McNichols; his grandchildren, Alexandra Raftakis and Meghan McNichols; his brothers, Arthur Berg and Ronald Berg; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie (nee Fredrickson) Berg; his father, Arthur Berg; and his sisters, Louise Scheffler and Beverly Funck.
Visitation will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 200 N. Catherine Ave., in La Grange, 708-352-0730, on Thursday, July 30 at 5 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m.
A reception will be held in the fellowship hall of the church immediately after the service.
