The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has announced that Harlem Avenue will be fully closed to traffic at the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad tracks north of Ogden Avenue for repairs to the railroad crossing, beginning, weather permitting, the morning of Thursday, Aug. 27.
A detour will be posted. Southbound traffic will use Cermak Road, First Avenue and Ogden Avenue to reconnect with Harlem Avenue. Northbound traffic will follow the reverse route.
The project will be complete by the afternoon of Friday, Sept. 4.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
