The village of Lyons is warning motorists to expect traffic delays on Ogden Avenue as it begins a water main replacement project there on Sept. 8 between Joliet Avenue and Plainfield Road. Ogden Avenue will be reduced from four lanes to one eastbound lane and one westbound lane of traffic between Joliet Avenue and Plainfield Road.

The first phase of the construction is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 31. Lyons officials are urging residents to find alternate routes, especially during the morning and evening rush-hour periods.

Officials said that the water main work is a part of $5.5 million in planned water main and road improvements for the village that began earlier this year and is expected to continue through the end of 2016.
