Donald L. Sweet, 84, of Brookfield, formerly of Hillside, died on Aug. 31, 2015 at Hines V.A. Hospital. 

He was a veteran who served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Sweet was employed as a sales route supervisor at Hostess (Continental) Baking for 35 years, retiring in 1993, and at Automatic Data Processing for 10 years. He volunteered at Brookfield Zoo for seven years.  

Mr. Sweet’s hobbies included woodworking, photography, making Christmas outdoor displays, ballroom and square dancing, painting large-format oil paintings and doing home projects using brick. 

Mr. Sweet is survived by his wife, Naomi M. Sweet (nee Warren); his daughters, Judith Sweet Ph.D. and Holly (Douglas) Funk; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his sister, Phyllis Broome. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Renada (James) Parker. 

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Sept. 4 at St. Barbara Church in Brookfield, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
