I just wanted to clarify that the corner garden lot on Eight Corners is anything but vacant (“Brookfield eyes TIF district for 8 Corners area,” News, Sept. 2).

It is in constant use by a wide swath of the community. There are regular worship services and community events, such as our upcoming Corn Fest. The community garden portion has over 30 members.

It is accurate to say that it is not generating revenue like a McDonald’s drive-through might, but we maintain that a community needs to be more than a series of fast-food restaurants.
