The Brookfield Conservation Commission will host its annual Meet the Creek, a celebration of the Salt Creek, on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Kiwanis Park picnic pavilion.

The day’s activities will include opportunities to take a 30-minute paddle on Salt Creek, interact with live reptiles courtesy of the Chicago Herpetological Society and view fish and other critters found in the Salt Creek. A scavenger hunt and face painting will be available for kids. The event is free.

Canoeing is free and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Children riding in canoes must be 3 years or older and minors must accompanied by an adult.
