Dr. Michael Pill

Dr. Michael P. Pill, 88, of Westmont; Longboat Key, Florida; and formerly of Riverside, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Dec. 11, 2015 after a long struggle with cancer. 

Born on May 5, 1927, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and participated in an Honor Flight in recent years. Dr. Pill was an avid traveler but most enjoyed delivering babies and practicing gynecology for 39 years at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn. 

Dr. Pill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Irene Pill (nee Vostal); his children, Gregg (Patti) Pill and Kerry (Debbie) Pill; and his grandchildren, Kevin, Michael, and James Pill. 

Visitation is on Wednesday, Dec. 16 from 3 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 17 from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at Hitzeman Funeral Home, 9445 31st St. in Brookfield. 

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 17 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady’s Chapel, Mayslake Village, in Oak Brook, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
