After briefly resigning from her post as a member of the Komarek school board in November, Gina Sierra was approved to rejoin the board in a unanimous vote at the December meeting.

Earlier last month, Sierra had resigned from the board, citing personal matters as the reason. However, a few weeks later, Sierra reconsidered her decision and was interested in rejoining in her old position.

“When she resigned, her post had not been filled,” Komarek Superintendent Brian Ganan said.

Upon the board’s approval, Sierra was welcomed back to the board at the last meeting and continued to vote on matters brought before the board.

“The board and I are excited because she’s a valued member of the board,” Ganan said. “We’re thankful for that.”

Additionally, earlier this fall, the board appointed Carolyn Lach to the board after saying goodbye to longtime board member and parent Diane Little, who resigned from her position because she had been voted onto the Broadview village board as a trustee.
