Robert J. Hankes Sr., 83, of Brookfield, died on Jan. 16, 2016 at the Silverado Senior Living Center in Naperville. 

Mr. Hankes served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and worked as a lithographer/printer at Inland Lithograph in Elk Grove Village for more than 40 years. He was a member of the International Lithographers & Printers Union. 

He enjoyed playing basketball in his younger days, and in later years liked playing billiards and pool. He was an avid Chicago White Sox fan. 

Mr. Hankes is survived by his sons, Robert Jr. (Wendy), Michael (MaryBeth) and Mark (Silvia) Hankes; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his brother, Erwin Hankes. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Hankes (nee Vitalo); his parents, John and Josephine Hankes; and his brother, John Hankes. 

Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 22 from 2 to 9 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, 3847 Prairie Ave. in Brookfield. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. at St. Barbara Church, 4008 Prairie Ave. in Brookfield, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice.
