They Lyons Township High School Jazz Ensemble will perform with guest jazz trumpet player Marquis Hill on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the South Campus Performing Arts Center, 4900 S. Willow Springs Road, Western Springs. Admission is free and open to the public.
Marquis Hill was the winner of the International Trumpet Guild Jazz Competition and the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Trumpet Competition, widely considered the most prestigious jazz competition in the industry.
He will spend the day working with LT students and rehearsing with them for the concert that evening. The program will include one of his original compositions “Inner City Blues,” from his album Sounds of the City, in addition to other jazz standards.
