Beekeeping may not be allowed in Riverside, Brookfield or North Riverside right now, but you never know what the future holds. So, if you’re interested in finding out more about the practice, the Frederick Law Olmsted Society will co-host a presentation called “Backyard Beekeeping” at the Riverside Public Library, 1 Burling Road, on Wednesday, March 16 at 7 p.m.

Marcin Matelski, head beekeeper at Garfield Park Conservatory, will give a lecture on the “why” and “how” of beekeeping, sharing his own experiences to illustrate the practical realities involved in urban beekeeping.

He’ll also discuss what it takes to set up and operate a small-scale apiary. Honey tasting will top off the evening.
