Marie Meier (nee Paloucek), 95, a longtime resident of Brookfield, died on April 4, 2016 at the Chateau Center in Willowbrook.
Born on Nov. 23, 1920 in Yugoslavia, she, as an infant, and her mother immigrated to the United States, through Ellis Island, to reunite with her father in Chicago.

Ms. Meier was a lifelong member of the Czechoslovak Society of America and a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She loved to cook, bake, read, travel, and, most of all, spend time with her beloved family.
Every Sunday was considered an open house for family and friends to drop by and enjoy the feast she had lovingly prepared.
Ms. Meier is survived by her children, Henry (Cynthia) Meier Jr., Patricia (Edward) Bednar and Cynthia (Thomas) Geishecker; her grandchildren, Lindsey Meier, Henry (Erin) Meier III, Lisa Dome, Eddy Bednar, Jerry Bednar, Julie (Troy) David, Steven Geishecker, Scott (Marie) Geishecker and Kristi (Matthew) Pisanko; her great-grandchildren, Christian Meier, William Meier, Joseph Dome, Shela Dome, Emily Dome, Colin Geishecker, Ryan Pisanko, Leah Pisanko and Kayla Pisanko; and her great-great-grandchild, Weyden Majorette. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry N. Meier Sr.
