John Opera, "Z4," 2012, anthotype (beet), 20.5-by-17 inches

The Riverside Arts Center, 32 E. Quincy St., will host an opening reception for a new exhibition, “Liquid Intelligence,” featuring the work of John Opera and Adam Schreiber on Sunday, April 17 from 3 to 6 p.m.

The exhibition, curated by Gregory Harris, will be on display at the Riverside Arts Center through May 14. Both Opera and Schreiber are Chicago-based artists who “utilize rudimentary image-making processes as a means of exploring photography’s most elemental nature.”

Opera creates abstract images using the anthotype process, while Schreiber creates vivid, minimal portraits.

The public is welcome to attend the opening reception. The gallery’s hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is free. Visit for more information.
