Last week, a camera crew visited town to shoot some footage at Burger Antics on Grand Boulevard and over at the Brookfield Historical Museum in the old Grossdale Station on Brookfield Avenue.
But from 6 to 9 a.m. that day, reporter Jon Hansen will be checking in periodically with Forman and Sparrow and talking with residents and business owners he meets. At 6 a.m., Hansen will start out at Mary’s Morning Mixup, 9110 Broadway Ave., and at 8 a.m. he’ll head on over to commune with the regulars and commuters at Loca Mocha, 8836 Brookfield Ave.
“We actually have people on staff from the Brookfield area,” said Hansen. “Everybody knows about the zoo, but we thought we’d dig a little deeper. There’s a lot of passionate people in Brookfield, and we thought we’d check out what everyone was talking about.”
The focus on Brookfield is part of a new segment on the “You & Me” show called, “Around the Block,” which features Chicago neighborhoods and suburbs. The segment premiered on April 27 in Chicago’s East Side neighborhood. Brookfield was chosen to be second on the list of places to visit.
“There’s going to be a lot of Brookfield in those three hours,” Hansen said.
The show, on Channel 26 for all you old-time TV folks, can be found on Xfinity HD Channel 183, AT&T Uverse Channel 10, and Direct TV/Dish Channel 26.
