I’d like to start out by hoping everyone has a safe Memorial Day. If you served, or know someone who did, thank you.

Now, I want to express my displeasure with my neighbors. I took a quick drive around the east end of town today. I counted 24 flags on the 14 blocks in the triangle. Twenty-four? More people put out Easter and Valentine’s Day decorations.

I moved to North Riverside 10 years ago and it just infuriates me at the lack effort on the part of the residents. Save the library? One hundred people show up. Fireworks? Over 1,000. Taking one minute to hang your flag? The village does a good job with flags on the street lights on the major routes, but the majority of residents can’t be bothered. Shame on all of you!
