Riverside certainly knows how to celebrate its nation’s birthday. However, it could not happen without the support of so many, those who gave donations to help pay for the expenses, particularly for the parade.

Thanks to Ron Malchiodi and his staff at the Rec Department who get everything off and running. Thank you to the village board for its support, the public works department, and the police and fire departments, who made us proud as they came down Longcommon in the parade.

Thanks as well to the businesses that provided food and libations on July 3; we’re glad you were there. Thank you to all the groups who set up in Guthrie Park on July 4 — the brats always taste the best and you have to have a lemonade.

To all who marched in the parade or cheered on the sidelines, you all have helped support a tradition that was in jeopardy of being stopped. It was a great party and everyone was there. Thank you to all who participated in a spirit of community and what it means to be a Friend of the Fourth.
