Brenda Patterson, a sales associate at Hursts’ Berwyn Jewelers and former stylist at Nordstrom’s, understands this first hand. She takes pleasure in helping people to pull together different jewelry pieces to create a current look that suits each customer’s personal style.
“Today, the biggest trend is layering,” Patterson says. “Whether it’s three necklaces or multiple bracelets, dare to mix it up.”
Patterson advises people to follow a few simple rules when choosing multiple jewelry pieces. “You want to create a flow that moves the eye from piece to piece,” she explains. “For example, consider wearing a choker with a lariat necklace, or stack a big statement bracelet with dainty bangles.”
Additionally, Patterson recommends, “Be sure to provide balance. With make-up, you want to choose either deep eye shadow or a bright lipstick, but not both. Similarly, with jewelry, if you want to wear a big statement necklace, then choose small earrings.”
During a fall designer trunk show, Patterson, along with other sales associates, will help consumers to create their own updated looks. The three-day event will take place at Hursts’ Berwyn Jewelers on October 14, 15 and 17. Consultants will provide personalized style recommendations and photograph attendees, so they can create similar looks on their own.
Attendees also will have exclusive access to gorgeous designs by Lecil and Mason-Kay, which have been brought in especially for the event. Both jewelry houses feature a range of styles, from modern tailored looks to romantic classics. The Luca and Henderson Collection lines by Lecil bring gold, silver, leather, sapphires, pearls, and other gems and metals into creative combinations. Meanwhile, Mason-Kay features beautiful natural jade of varying colors in timeless designs.
