Dr. Harold Arthur Lindahl, 89, a resident of Riverside for 61 years, died on Oct. 19, 2016. 

Born on June 5, 1927, he was retired from his job as a chemical engineer for BP/Amoco and was an adjunct professor of chemical engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology for more than 40 years. Dr. Lindahl held many patents for his inventions in this field. 

Dr. Lindahl was past-president of Riverside Elementary School District 96. He also volunteered as a Little League coach for many years, and was a retired member of the Riverside Golf Club. 

Dr. Lindahl is survived by his wife, Yvonne (nee Dostal); his children, John (Robin), Candace (Mark) Krumdick, Susan (Paul) Kucera, Sally (Gary) Gurzynski and Elizabeth (Daniel) Durkin; his grandchildren, Yvonne, Lauren, Melissa, Michael, Amy, Matthew, Emily, David, Clare, Laura and Sarah; and his nephew and nieces, David, Jane and Carol. He was preceded in death by his sister, Arlene (late Ken) Patterson. 

A funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 22

Visitation and Service were on October 22 at St. Mary Church in Riverside, followed by interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
