Brookfield police officers are getting their hair down, facial hair to be precise, during the month of November during their “Beards and Badges 2016” fundraiser benefiting Make-A-Wish Illinois.
This marks the second year police have grown beards during the month of November to raise money for a charitable organization. Last year, the department collected nearly $3,650 for Special Olympics. This year the department has selected Make-A-Wish, which grants wishes to children battling life-threatening diseases.
Anyone wanting to donate to the cause can visit the Brookfield Police Department’s GoFundMe page here.
In the first nine days, the effort has raised $710.
