Families at Blythe Park School in Riverside celebrated the completion of the “One School, One Book” special project during February and early March.

Every family received a copy of the Betty G. Birney’s The World According to Humphrey and read it together, following a schedule provided by the school. The goal, according to Principal Casimira Gorman in a letter to families, was not just to prepare children to be better readers but to build a “community of readers at our school.”

The month-long event featured daily trivia questions, with winners able to bring home a toy figure of the book’s protagonist for the night.

The event culminated March 16 with an all-family event in the Blythe Park gymnasium.
