Maxie and Gerry Elpert of Madison, South Dakota, along with Nancy and Kevin Smith of Riverside, announce the engagement of their children, Lana and Brendan.
The future bride is a 2002 graduate of Madison (South Dakota) High School, a 2006 graduate of the University of Minnesota and a 2010 graduate of The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
Lana is currently working as an internist doing hospitalist medicine in the Medical Intermediate Care Unit at the University of Maryland. Additionally, she teaches Introduction to Clinical Medicine to first-year medical students at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
Brendan is a 2003 graduate of St. Ignatius College Preparatory, a 2008 graduate of the University of Illinois and a 2015 graduate of the Indiana University Maurer School of Law.
In addition to being a research assistant at Maurer, Brendan interned at the U.S. Department of Justice, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and the ACLU of Indiana. Brendan is currently an administrative law attorney in Maryland employed by the Social Security Administration.
The couple will be married June 10 in Madison, South Dakota.
