On May 8, nine girls from George Washington Middle School in Lyons gave their hair to Locks of Love, a nonprofit organization that provides hairpieces to disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical conditions that lead to hair loss.
Silvermoon Salon in LaGrange hosted the event, and stylists Liz Chada, Kelly Douglas and Michelle Van Eaton worked the scissors, and the girls were chauffeured to the salon courtesy of James Porok from Home James Limousine.
Among those donating their hair were Alondra Morales, Camila Valencia, Mia Lopez, Lizet Ortiz, Ariana Kittl, Isis Zurita, Duska Richert and Mayalee Garcia. The 2017 Locks of Love sponsors at GWMS were Danielle Lahey and Susan Barankiewicz.
