Josephine D. Linkus (nee Zikas), 96, of Venice, Florida, and formerly of Brookfield, where she lived for 45 years, and Chicago’s Roseland neighborhood, died on May 22, 2017.
Born on Feb. 8, 1921, she was a secretary in the chemical industry. Ms. Linkus loved visiting Brookfield Zoo and enjoyed the baby giraffes. She also sang in the St. Louise de Marillac Church choir, which gave her much joy.
Her delicious Lithuanian recipes and holiday traditions will be continued by the next generation. Her strong faith and loving and caring for her family and friends were very important in her life.
Ms. Linkus was the wife of the late Frank P. Linkus; the mother of Ken Linkus, Lorraine (Ken) Lipinski and Ann (Tom) Lukas; the grandmother of Laurel (Dan) McMahon, Jesse (Nicole) Lukas, Ryan (Sarah) Lukas and Lindsey (Tyler) Davis; the great-grandmother of Megan McMahon, Daniel McMahon, Oliver Lukas, Lila Lukas, Isabella Lukas and baby Nolan Davis; the sister of the late August Zikas, Harriet Scuilli and Ann Gibbs; and the aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to thank, with all their hearts, the excellent, professional, loving care given to their Mom in the last years of her life at Mary’s on Bayshore, by MaryAnn, Katie and the staff in Venice, Florida.
A funeral Mass was celebrated July 31 at St Louise de Marillac Church in LaGrange Park, followed by interment at St. Casmir Cemetery.
