Lloyd Ander

Lloyd Edward “Andy” Ander, 95, of Elmhurst, died at home under hospice care on July 29, 2017. 

Born on Oct. 30, 1921, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in Norman, Oklahoma, where he met and married his wife of 70 years, Doris “Dottie” Hope Ander (nee Corden). 

After the war, they moved to Chicago and settled in Stickney until recently moving to a senior residential facility in Elmhurst. Mr. Ander was an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Berwyn for more than 60 years and had many friends in the church and local community. 

Retiring from Commonwealth Edison after 40 years, he and Dottie volunteered at Brookfield Zoo for 30 years and delivered Meals on Wheels for 25 years. 

Mr. Ander was the father of Michael (Linda), Paul (Arlis), Gary (Libby) and Kris (Mary); the grandfather of nine; the great-grandfather of seven; and brother of Robert. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dottie, and his brother, Earl. 

Andy will lay in state on Wednesday, Aug. 2 at 9:30 a.m. until time of service, 10:30 a.m., at Messiah Lutheran Church, 130 W. Butterfield Road in Elmhurst followed by interment at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.
