Mildred Schalk

Mildred Agnes Schalk (nee Brydl), 90, a longtime resident of La Grange Park and formerly of Brookfield and Naperville, died on Sept. 14, 2017. 

Born on May 21, 1927 in Chicago to Lillian and Frank Brydl, she graduated from Riverside-Brookfield High School in the Class of 1945, in the upper 10 percent of her class. 

She was a supervisor for the Bell System Center for Technical Education in Lisle. Mildred was a past-president of the Brookfield Junior Women’s Club, a member of The U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation, a charter member of the National World War II Memorial, Friends of the Bohemian National Cemetery, Telephone Pioneers, and the World War II Museum in New Orleans. 

Ms. Schalk is survived by her cousin, Carl Sinder; and some very dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald W. Schalk, and her parents. 

Visitation is on Wednesday, Sept. 20 from 10 until 11 a.m. at Hitzeman Funeral Home, 9445 31st St. in Brookfield, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Forest Park.
