As a lifetime member of the Brookfield Friends of the Library, it is time again to thank the Library Board of Trustees and the many Brookfield residents who worked diligently for five years or more to assess needs, design, and seek funding for a new library. We came oh-so-close.
Understandably, village and school needs surfaced and we lost out. Those entities need our support, too, and they are not going away.
Due to the library leadership’s credit (and their spectacular fiscal responsibility) they are not giving up. Instead they are presenting a proposal that recognizes the reality of our times. I wish them luck and again thank them for their perseverance.
And thanks to all who have contributed to the library’s efforts. I hope you are as excited as I am to follow what will come of their new plans.
