Jacob J. Zawacki, 65, died on Jan. 20, 2018 at his Riverside home. 

Born on Sept. 20, 1952, he worked for the U.S. Peace Corps in the Fiji Islands during the 1970s. He was a member of International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees Local 476, and worked as a carpenter, set designer and builder, and pyro-technician in the television and movie industries for Universal Films, 20th Century Fox, MGM, Wildwood Enterprises, Plum Tree Productions, Lucas Films, Sedelmaier Films, Studio Seven, Film Fair, Fred Niles Communications and Sarra, Inc. 

Some of the movies he worked on include “The Duke,” “The Fury,” “Uncle Buck,” and “Backdraft.”

Mr. Zawacki was the husband of Emily; the father of Augusta, Zoe and Mike; the brother of Marjorie Noga, Andrew Zawacki, Alice Banks and Patrick Stevens; and an uncle to many.
