The official Election Day for the March 20 primary is still a couple of weeks away, but you don’t have to wait until that day to cast your ballot.
Early voting started March 5 at 53 locations throughout suburban Cook County, and it will continue daily through March 19, the day before the primary.
You don’t need a reason or an excuse to vote early, and while bringing state identification, such as a driver’s license may help clear up any questions about a voter’s registration, an ID is not required.
If you haven’t already registered to vote or if you need to register a change of address, you can do so at all early-voting sites. You must present two forms of ID, one of which must show your current address.
Ballots cast early are securely stored until they are tallied with the rest of the ballots on Election Day.
Early voting sites are open Monday through Friday, March 5-9 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and March 12-16 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; on Saturday, March 10 and 17 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and on Sunday, March 11 and 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Times on Monday, March 19 vary. Any suburban Cook County voter can cast a ballot at any suburban early voting site.
