The village of Riverside is warning motorists to expect delays next weekend if you’re traveling in the vicinity of First and Forest avenues due to construction planned in the northbound lanes of First Avenue beginning Friday, March 23.
Public Works Director Edward Bailey confirmed that the work is related to the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District’s Salt Creek Interceptor sewer-lining project, which is entering its third spring under construction.
Kenny Construction, said Bailey, will be working on the steel plates in the pavement on the east side of First Avenue immediately north of Forest Avenue. The roadway, is expected to fully reopen on March 26.
Traffic on First Avenue will be restricted to one through lane in either direction, and the right-turn lane onto northbound First Avenue from Forest Avenue will also be closed.
