John P. O’Rourke, 81, of North Riverside, has died.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a retired sergeant of the North Riverside Police Department after 31 years of honorable service. Mr. O’Rourke was also a member of the North Riverside FOP Lodge 110, the PBPA Unit 73, and the lead negotiator for Illinois FOP Labor Council North Riverside Unit.
Mr. O’Rourke was a member of the Illinois Police Association and president and co-founder of the Rusty Button Club and a devoted Cubs Fan.
He was the husband of Sandra (nee Blake); the father of John P. Jr. (Julie Hutt), Susan (Ed) Douglas, Timothy (Tifani), Theresa (Richard Lund) O’Rourke and Kevin (Tracey); the grandfather of Brady, Maya, Will, A.J., Annie, Ryan, Conor, Henry and Jimmy; and the brother of Pat (Ray) Bugielski.
Chapel Service will be held on Wednesday, May 9 at 10:00 a.m. at Conboy-Westchester Funeral Home, 10501 W. Cermak Rd., Westchester. Interment is at Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park.
