Julian J. Ligeikis, 71, a lifelong resident of Brookfield who recently relocated to Bluffton, South Carolina, died on July 6, 2018. 

“Jule,” as he was known by friends and family, was heavily involved in the community that he grew up in. He was a leader for the Cub Scouts, assistant scout master for Boy Scout Troop 90, and was heavily involved in his children’s sports over the years. 

He served as a coach for both boys and girls Little League and his youngest son’s Illinois Special Olympics team. He was also a member of the Riverside-Brookfield High School Boosters member and served on the Brookfield Zoning Board of Appeals. 

Mr. Ligeikis is survived by his wife, Barbara (Brady) Ligeikis; his children, Craig Ligeikis, Heather Vandeweert, Shawn Ligeikis, Katie Jindrich, Eric Ligeikis and Joey Ligeikis; his son and daughter in-laws, Alan Vandeweert and Chas Jindrich, Rita Ligeikis, Heather Hill Ligeikis and Casey Ligeikis; and his grandchildren, Nick, Alli, Nate, Charlie, Zach, Max, Kayla, Matthew, Raven and Dakota. 

A memorial service will be held on Aug. 11 from noon to 3 p.m., with a service at 2 p.m., at Conboy Funeral Home, 10501 W. Cermak Rd. in Westchester. 

In lieu of flowers or monetary gifts, the family asks for donations to the Illinois Special Olympics in Jule Ligeikis’ name.
