The Riverside Junior Woman’s Charity recently recognized one of their members, Joanne Schiemann, as the 2018 Junior of the Year.
Schiemann was voted Junior of the Year by her fellow members. In addition to lending a hand in almost every one of the organization’s initiatives and events, Schiemann developed multiple partnerships with local businesses to help raise thousands of dollars as chair of the Juniors’ Giving Partnership Committee.
In addition, the Juniors have awarded their Outstanding Community Service Recognition Scholarship to Riverside resident Kaitlyn Gaynor.
The recent Riverside-Brookfield High School graduate will receive a $1,500 scholarship in recognition of her many contributions to the community and her hundreds of hours of volunteer work.
Gaynor will attend Michigan State University in the fall.
Both Schiemann and Gaynor were featured in the Riverside Fourth of July parade, along with the winner of the Juniors’ parade theme contest, Sonia Peterson, a second-grader at Blythe Park School.
Peterson’s submission “Home of the Brave, Land of the Free, Riverside is the Place for Me” earned her not only a ride in the parade but gift cards from Aunt Diana’s, La Barra, Let Hair Go, Riverside Foods and Riverside Parks and Recreation.
