Dr. Clotilde “Cloe” Armenia (Mrzena) Frankiewicz, Ph.D., 71, died on August 13, 2018.
Born on Sept. 19, 1946 in Chicago to the late Armenia Adler and the late Frank Mrzena, she received a B.A. in education from Concordia University in 1988 and earned a Ph.D. in 2003 from the University of Illinois at Chicago with her dissertation on “Parental Influence on Educational Decision Making and Student Achievement.”
Cloe spent her career as a respected math teacher and assistant principal until she retired in 2017. Active in the teachers’ union and championed teacher’s rights. She enjoyed scuba diving, gardening, fishing, feeding a crowd, and spending time with family. She is survived by her children, Eva (Frankiewicz) Winckler and her husband Brad and Matthew Frankiewicz and his wife Jill; and her grandchildren, Luke Frankiewicz, Cadel Winckler, Morgan Frankiewicz and Claudia Winckler. Friends and family are welcome to attend a memorial mass on Friday, August 24 at 10:00 a.m. at Brookfield’s St. Barbara Church, 4008 Prairie Ave. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society.
