Thomas Sutherland Uhlich Sr., 68, of Punta Gorda Florida, formerly Riverside, Illinois passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his life, Jackie Krohn and close family on August 20, 2018.
Mr. Uhlich was a Vietnam veteran, serving two tours at the Tay Ninh Combat Base along the Cambodian Border. He was an air traffic controller in the 1st Aviation Brigade. He is still well known as PH6, which became his very famous call sign among his comrades.
He was an avid golfer, and his most memorable times were traveling around United States golfing with his dad. His passion was operating his business in the commercial industrial flooring industry.
Mr. Uhlich was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert (Bill) Uhlich and Barbara Sutherland Uhlich. He is survived by his loving and devoted companion and best friend, Jackie Krohn. He is also survived by his children, Kimberly Jirschele, Kimberly Laurie, Tom Uhlich Jr. and Jesse Uhlich and his grandchildren, Ashley, Morgan Logan (Laurie), Jared Uhlich and Jackie’s grandson, Shelem Vickers. He also leaves behind his sisters Penny, Pam, Barb, Trudy and Meg and his brothers John and Tony, as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A military memorial service will be held on Sept. 9 at 11:00 a.m. at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, 9400 Indian Spring Cemetery Road, Punta Gorda, Florida, followed by a reception and celebration of his life.
