Gertrud Beadle

Gertrud Erna Beadle (nee Gartner), 92, of La Grange Park, has died. She came to this country as a young bride by troop transport from her home in Germany in 1948 and was an involved and devoted mother. Gertrud was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, a past-member of the Gross School PTA, and of the Brookfield Women’s Club. She was also a longtime saleswoman at Hortons Home Furnishings of La Grange where she fostered many friendships. She was universally known for her kindness toward others and her ability to make those around her feel included, appreciated, and loved.

Gertrud Beadle was the wife of the late Julius Brett Beadle; mother of Lawrence (Cheryl) Beadle, Michael Beadle, and Carolyn (Michael) Ressl; grandmother and great-grandmother of many; and the sister of Wally Bohm and Ottmar Gartner.

Visitation and service were held on Sept. 21 at Brookfield’s Hitzeman Funeral Home Ltd., followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery.

The family appreciates memorials to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown 21741.
