Used book sale in North Riverside
North Riverside Friends of the Library will host their Fall Used Book Sale on Oct. 18-21 at the North Riverside Public Library, 2400 Desplaines Ave.
The early preview for Friends members (forms available at the door) is Oct. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. The sale opens to the public (Friends get early entry at 9:30 a.m.) on Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and continues Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
On Oct. 21, get a bag of books (bags provided) for $4 from noon to 3 p.m.
It’s the bunco squad
The St. Barbara Council of Catholic Women invite the community to attend their Bunco Party Fundraiser on Sunday, Oct. 21 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Parish Center, across the street from the church at 4008 Prairie Ave. in Brookfield.

BYOB Harvest Bingo at Riverside Library
The Riverside Friends of the Library will hold a Harvest Bingo fundraiser at the Riverside Public Library, 1 Burling Road, on Saturday, Oct. 20 from 7 to 10 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Going batty
North Riverside Public Library, 2400 Desplaines Ave., hosts the special program “Incredible Bats” on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m.
Learn all about these often misunderstood and feared creatures, and see Egyptian fruit bats and African straw-colored fruit bats up close. The program is free and open to all ages.
Freaky Friday Bash
North Riverside Parks and Recreation will host its annual Freaky Friday Bash for all local sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders on Oct. 19 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Village Commons, 2401 Desplaines Ave.

Hollywood Holiday Wreaths
The Hollywood Citizens Association will take orders for holiday wreaths, scented pine cones and Northern Lights holiday gifts for their Holiday Wreath Fundraiser through Monday, Oct. 29.
Pickup time is Nov. 24 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the parking lot of the Hollywood House/School at the corner of Washington and Hollywood avenues in Brookfield.
