Helen Rose Blake (nee Bombeck), 98, a 51-year resident of Brookfield, died on Oct. 23, 2018.
Born on Aug. 3, 1920, she was orphaned at the age of 2 and raised by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ at Angel Guardian in Chicago. She worked as a clerk for an insurance company.
Ms. Blake was the wife of the late Richard F. Blake; the mother of Richard B. Blake and Terence (Christine) Blake; the grandmother of William, Jacqueline and Rebecca; the sister of the late John (the late Gladys) Bombek and Ben (the late Helen) Baunbach; and the aunt and great-aunt of many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 27 at St. Barbara Church in Brookfield, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
