Police in Riverside and North Riverside will step up patrols beginning Nov. 21 as they participate in the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Thanksgiving Buckle-Up enforcement campaign.

Both departments applied for and received funds from the Federal Highway Administration to pay for the additional traffic-only enforcement patrols, which will run through 6 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 26.

Drivers and passengers can expect a ticket from police if they are seen not wearing seatbelts or have an unbuckled child in the vehicle. In addition to stopped-up patrols, police will also be doing roadside safety checks.

Police will also be looking out for impaired drivers during the enforcement campaign.
