Anthony Francis Skokna, 64, of Brookfield, died Jan. 15, 2019 in LaGrange.
Born on July 17, 1954, Mr. Skokna was a teacher of many years at St. Joseph High School, Providence St. Mel and John Marshall High School, all in Chicago, coached high school basketball and Babe Ruth Baseball and was a referee for AYSO soccer.
He played baseball at Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri, enjoyed soccer locally and also earned a paralegal degree. He was a Third Order Franciscan and belonged to the St. Barbara Knights of Columbus Council 15943. Mr. Skokna also was a co-worker of Mother Teresa, working with her sisters in Haiti while on his honeymoon.
Mr. Skokna was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Edythe Skokna and will be forever loved by his son, Michael (Katie), Mary, Elizabeth, Evelyn, Jacqueline, Bernadette, Andrea, Lucy and their mother Julie. He was the grandfather of Addison Grace; the brother of Michael I., Peggy (James) Pappin, Catherine (Jim), Andrew (Kate), Thomas (Marie), Nicholas (Tracey) and Christopher (Karen), and the uncle of countless nieces and nephews.
