William R. Sutherland Sr., 95, of Brookfield, died on May 9, 2019.
Born on Jan. 22, 1924 in Chicago, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and worked as a freight handler for the Burlington Northern Railroad.
Mr. Sutherland was the husband of the late Ruth F. (nee Forbes); the father of Patricia (Edward) Krch, William R. (Mary) Sutherland Jr., Barbara (late Kenneth) Hologa and Roberta (Dimas) Rodriguez; the grandfather of Dimas, Bree, Jason, Nicole, Amanda, Shawn, Joe, Michael and Laura; the great-grandfather of Julio, Alex, Daniel, Tyler, Katie, Seth, Haley, Kristin, Letica, Joshua, Aiden, Mallory, Michael Jr., Jeremy, Joseph, Andrew, Ben and Eli; and the twin brother of the late Robert (late Mary).
A funeral Mass was celebrated May 14 at St. Barbara Church in Brookfield, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
