Swing time in Brookfield
Jump in the groove and go Brookfield, on Friday, June 28 at 7 p.m. for the swinging sounds of Bopology.
The six-piece combo will play the best in swing music from the 1930s through the 1950s at the band at the band shell at Kiwanis Park, 8820 Brookfield Ave. The show is part of the Brookfield Parks and Rec’s summer outdoor concert series.
In addition to the music there will be refreshments for sale as well as activities for kids. Free and open to the public.
A giant leap
North Riverside Public Library, 2400 Desplaines Ave., continues its Wednesday Movie Matinee on July 3 at 2 p.m. with a screening of the 2018 film “First Man,” starring Ryan Gosling as astronaut Neil Armstrong and retelling the story of the first person to step foot on the lunar surface.
The movie is free. Drop-in only.

North Riverside Parks and rec continues its summer outdoor concert series on Thursday, June 27 at 7 p.m. with Eclipse Chicago, who recreate the sounds of English art rockers Pink Floyd.
Bring your friends and family, and kick back while enjoying the concession special, churros, and a Pink Floyd adult drink special. The concert, which will be held at the gazebo behind the Village Commons, 2401 Desplaines Ave., is free and open to the public.
Tour Riverside’s South Division
The Frederick Law Olmsted Society continues its 2019 series of docent-led walking tours of Riverside on Sunday, June 30 from 2 to 4 p.m.
On this date, enjoy a guided tour of the village south of the BNSF Railroad tracks. Meet at the Riverside train station. The cost is $20 per person ($15 for 62+ and Olmsted Society members). Special custom tours available at $25 per person based on requirements.
