Edward J. Szot, 93, of Oak Park and formerly of North Riverside, died on July 25, 2019.
Born on Jan. 18, 1926 in Chicago, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II and then worked as a machinist for a rivet manufacturing company.
Mr. Szot was the husband for 71 years of Stephanie S. (nee Szejner); the father of Eddie (Cynthia), Mary (Robert) Oplawski and Steven (Theresa); the grandfather of Sarah (Ryan) Boldt and Jacob Szot; the brother of many brothers and sisters; and the uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is on Friday, Aug. 2 at 8:30 a.m. until time of prayers, 10:30 a.m. at Kuratko-Nosek Funeral Home, 2447 Desplaines Ave. in North Riverside. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at Mater Christi Church in North Riverside. Interment is private.
