The Brook Park School community turned out in force on Aug. 14 to officially christen the new playground, which is the result of a two-year fundraising effort by the Brook Park Council and Brookfield-LaGrange Park School District 95. Parents and the district administration partnered to fund the roughly $258,000 playground, which features a poured-in-place synthetic rubber play surface and separate play areas for kids 2-5 and 6-12.

After a ribbon-cutting ceremony, kids rushed onto the playground to climb the monkey bars and try out the zip line, slides and other features. The playground replacement was part of a larger renovation and expansion project at Brook Park School during the past year.

The Brook Park Council raised almost $150,000 towards the playground project, with the school district picking up the difference.
