It sure has been a couple of interesting weeks seeing where an apparently wide-ranging federal investigation into local politicians and their ties to companies who are also large campaign contributors will go.

One of the more interesting connections being made in a now-unredacted federal search warrant of Sen. Martin Sandoval’s office in Springfield is the feds’ particular interest in the red-light camera company SafeSpeed LLC.

While there’s plenty of light shining right now on the firm, we’re just here to point out that in January of 2017 – almost three years ago – the Landmark issued what you might call a road map of connections between those involved in that company and local pols, like Sandoval.

We’re pleased to see that others paid attention to our small local paper, and started asking questions of their own.
